Written Tuesday, May 17, 2022

The Connecticut Bar Association denounces the three hate motivated mass shootings that took place last week targeting Black and Asian communities.

These racially motivated acts of violence around the country cannot be tolerated. As legal professionals and leaders in our communities, we must continue to stand up against all forms of attacks targeting racial, ethnic, and culturally diverse groups. The Connecticut Bar Association cannot remain silent in the face of such hateful, violent actions. We stand as an organization opposed to hate and reaffirm our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, which has and continues to allow our association to meet the needs of our members and the communities where we live.

The CBA calls on all members of our legal community and all members of the public to unify and speak out against hate, violence, and discrimination. We must all actively stand united in defense of our communities, the rule of law, and the promotion of the public interest through the advancement of equal justice and protection of liberty for all.
